Focused on Family, Friends, and Service
Mark and his family have lived in Federal Way since 1996. His son Bryan graduated from Federal Way High School in 2007 and his daughter Lauren graduated from Decatur in 2010, where she was a member of the award-winning choir program. Both continued their education at Highline College.
Focusing on service is not something new to Mark. He has found ways to serve his entire adult life. He started by working with teenagers while in college and later served on a private school board as well as working with the children in his church. Mark has done things as diverse as leading a team of over 100 volunteers to counseling young adults, helping them to discover their passions and develop their leadership skills. Mark also had the honor of serving the community and Federal Way School board as the chair of the Citizen Superintendent Search Committee that hired Dr. Tammy Campbell.
Currently, Mark works with a great team at TC Transcontinental working as a Business Development Manager. Mark has had the opportunity to travel around the country for both work and service projects. Among the most memorable were his trips to Beaumont, Texas where he assisted in the disaster relief efforts after hurricane Rita; Long Beach, California, where he helped build a community garden; and as far away as Uganda where he was a conference speaker.
Since being elected, Mark continues to serve the community as a member of the Rotary and also serves on the board of the Federal Way Boys and Girls Club.
Mark made the choice to run for city council because of his desire to be a part of creating a city we can all be proud of, a city that we all feel safe in, with a dynamic business environment and a vibrant downtown that is a magnet, not just for the citizens of Federal Way, but our neighboring cities as well. Most of all Mark wants our city to be known as one that takes care of its own and where no one is left behind.
